Private Career and Other Public Service:
Served in U.S. Marine Corps, 1951-54.  Former President, Simpson Distributing Co., Inc.  Past Director, Maryland Capital Savings and Loan.  Past Director, Commercial Credit Savings and Loan.  Director, CareFirst, Blue Cross Blue Shield; Bank of Southern Maryland.  Chair, Charles County Sanitary Commission, 1967-70.  President, Charles County Commissioners, 1970-74.  Past President, Waldorf Lions Club.  Past Deputy District Governor 22-C District Lions Club.  Chair, Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland.  Honorary Member, Waldorf Jaycees.  Member, American Legion; Marine Corps League; Knights of Columbus; Elks; Izaak Walton League; Past Director, ARC of Southern Maryland.  Selected Citizen of the Year by Waldorf Lions Club, 1974.

Personal Comments and Observations:
    "...A few of the most controversial issues during my tenure were the death penalty, increasing the sales tax from 4% to 5%, [the] Baltimore subway, [the] abortion issue and [as] always government regulation and the budget."
