Board of Directors, St. Mary's Nursing Center; Friends of St. Clement's Island Museum; Maryland Association of Counties. Past president, Advisory Board, Community College at St. Mary's. Past member, Community College Building Committee. Community Service Award, St. Mary's County Chamber of Commerce, 1987. Spirit of Excellence Award, Bell Atlantic, 1991. Inducted into Maryland State Firemen's Association Hall of Fame, 1991. Gladhill-Thompson Trophy, Maryland State Firemen's Association, 1998. Awarded honorary degree, College of Southern Maryland, 2004. Distinguished Service Award, College of Southern Maryland, 2011. Married; two children.
