On August 26, 2024, Mr. Franklin pleaded guilty in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court to charges of felony theft scheme and perjury. On November 13, 2024, he was sentenced for theft to five years in jail with all but one year suspended, and for perjury to five years in jail with all five years suspended. He also will have to serve three years of supervised probation. In addition, Mr. Franklin will have to pay $133,168 in restitution for money he stole from his campaign fund.
