Chartered by Anne Arundel County in 1993 to manage and carry out the County’s federal housing and community development programs, Arundel Community Development Services is a nonprofit organization. It provides a variety of direct assistance, including homeownership counseling, foreclosure prevention counseling, downpayment and closing cost assistance, accessibility modifications, property rehabilitation and affordable rental units to County residents.
Arundel Community Development Services directly implements several homeownership and rental programs, and acts as a developer, funding administrator, and project manager for a variety of affordable housing and community development initiatives alongside many partners.
The organization is governed by an eleven-member Board of Directors.
The Commission seeks to provide quality, affordable housing to very-low-income citizens; assure that the residents of the Commission’s housing communities are safe and that the communities are vibrant and healthy; and pursue innovative programs to rehabilitate, sustain, and transform public-housing communities. the Commission also manages federal funds that assist low-income citizens with the cost of housing, and develops and implements programs that lead to independence, self-sufficiency and self-respect.
