Organized in July 1993, Environmental Advisory Committee advised Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission on local community and environmental issues associated with proposed projects. Committee consisted of fourteen members appointed by Commission.

Abolished in June 2009.

Under Operations, renamed Department of Operational Reliability and Resilience on July 1, 2024.

OFFICE OF SMALL, LOCAL & MINORITY BUSINESS ENTERPRISE
In June 2017, renamed Office of Supplier Diversity and Inclusion (Chapter 562, Acts of 2017).

STRATEGY & INNOVATION
Under Operations, discontinued by April 2023 and some duties reassigned to other departments.

Strategy and Innovation shared accurate and up-to-date information in order to lead data-driven meetings, coordinate development of tactics and strategies, deploy resources, and follow up for collective benefit of all involved. Office directed strategic planning as well as coordinated development process that defined goals, prioritized efforts, allocated resources, and aligned stakeholders and employees to implement Strategic Plan. Further, office worked to improve processes and performance; determined and evaluated business processes; and conducted departmental reviews; and implemented and measured changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness in a collaborative manner. In addition, office provided implementation support for key initiatives in order to assist, coordinate, and foster accountability, as well as developed key performance indicators, benchmarks, and service levels to help measure, track and facilitate progress. Office worked on targeted data analytics projects for which it performed rapid assessment and research of data to identify patterns, trends and observations that were not evident through other means. Finally, office monitored and evaluated effectiveness of programs, projects, action items, and strategic plan implementation.
