Attorney. Member, Maryland State Bar Association, 1986- (criminal law & practice section; judicial administration section; state & local government section; board of directors, 2000-02); Calvert County Bar Association, 1985- (president, 1988-89). Board of Directors, Maryland State's Attorneys' Association, 1985-2005 (president, 2003-05; 1st vice-president, 2005); National District Attorneys' Association, 1986-2005 (president, 2003-05).
