Interim Report to Governor (Executive Order 01.01.2026.16).

In September 2026, the Governor created the Maryland Data Center Accountability Task Force (Executive Order 01.01.2026.16).

Administered by the Governor's Office, the Task Force coordinates the State's review of data center projects, and serves as the Maryland's single point of contact on data center development.

The Maryland Data Center Framework is overseen by the Task Force. The Framework sets principles and evaluation criteria for data centers, and is concerned with ratepayor and grid protection; economic benefit for Marylanders; community voice in decision-making; environmental protection; and transparency and accountability. The Task Force reviews proposed projects in light of these Framework principles and evaluation criteria.

Eight members constitute the Task Force. The Chair is chosen by the Governor
