Effective May 2023, the Advisory Board on Medical and Adult-Use Cannabis was authorized by the General Assembly (Chapters 254 & 255, Acts of 2023).
The Board considers all matters submitted to it by the Governor; the General Assembly; the Maryland Cannabis Administration; or the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Cannabis Cmmmission, and on its own initiative, provides recommendations to the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Cannabis Commission or the Maryland Cannabis Administration regarding guidelines, rules, and regulations that the Board considers important or necessary for them to review and consider.
Twenty-three members constitute the Board. Of these, twenty-two members are appointed to four-year terms by the Governor with Senate advice and consent. The Director of the Maryland Cannabis Administration serves ex officio, and as the Chair (Code Alcoholic Beverages Article, sec. 1-309.2).
