In April 2023, the Apprenticeship 2030 Commission was initiated by the General Assembly (Chapter 168, Acts of 2023). Its first meeting was held September 5, 2023.
The Commission is to examine and make recommendations to reduce skill shortages in high–demand occupations, and provide affordable training as career pathways for young people. At all education levels, it will focus on registered apprenticeships with the goal of recruiting into apprenticeships high school students, as well as individuals, who are unemployed or underemployed, and at least 18 years of age.
Twenty-three members constitute the Commission. Six of these serve ex officio.
Authorization for the Commission ended December 31, 2024. Its final report is expected at the end of February 2025.
