Annual Report to Governor & General Assembly due Jan. 1, beginning 2022 (Chapter 746, Acts of 2021; Code Real Property Article, sec. 8-908).

In October 2021, the Access to Counsel in Evictions Task Force was authorized by the General Assembly (Chapter 746, Acts of 2021).

The Task Force evaluates the provision of legal services in eviction cases, including the performance of the Maryland Legal Services Corporation, and designated community organizations. It also considers potential funding sources for providing such access to counsel.

To improve the implementation of the Access to Counsel in Evictions Program, which is administered by the Maryland Legal Services Corporation, the Task Force will make recommendations, including those concerned with policy and law.

Consisting of up to fifteen members, the Task Force is appointed by the Attorney General (Code Real Property Article, sec. 8-907).
