In June 2018, the Prince George's County Environmental Justice Commission was formed by the General Assembly (Chapter 779, Acts of 2018).

The Commission studied environmental justice issues in Prince George's County, and made recommendations on what actions should be taken, including whether to continue the Commission.

Authorization for the Commission originally was to end June 30, 2019, but was extended to June 30, 2020, when additional members were added (Chapter 352, Acts of 2019).

On June 30, 2020, authorization for the Commission ended.
