Final Report to Governor due Dec. 1, 2019 (Executive Order 01.01.2017.24).

In October 2017, the Maryland Outdoor Recreation Economic Commission was formed by the Governor (Executive Order 01.01.2017.24).

The Commission charge was to formulate a plan and make recommendations on how to strengthen the business climate for the outdoor recreation industry in Maryland so that jobs are retained and the sector grows. Further, the Commission was to develop new and innovative strategies to market Maryland's unique natural attributes and cultural heritage, while protecting those resources and boosting the rural economy.

Appointed by the Governor, the Commission consisted of eighteen members, including the Secretary of Commerce and the Secretary of Natural Resources, who served as Commission Co-Chairs.

In December 2019, the Commission submitted its final report.
