The Governor established the Maryland Foreclosure Task Force by executive letter of August 24, 2011.

The Task Force charge was to identify key foreclosure trends in Maryland and what impact foreclosures were having on communities across the State. Further, the Task Force developed strategies to mitigate loss to Maryland home owners and to strengthen neighborhoods most affected by foreclosures.

Work of the Task Force was aided by the formation of work groups concerned with Key Data Trends, Loss Mitigation, and Strengthening Neighborhoods.

On January 11, 2012, the Task Force submitted its report to the Governor.
