Annual Report to Senate Budget & Taxation Committee, Senate Education, Health & Environmental Affairs Committee, House Appropriations Committee, House Health & Government Operations Committee, & Joint Committee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, & Biotechnology.

In May 2022, the General Assembly authorized creation of the Modernize Maryland Oversight Commission (Chapter 243, Acts of 2022), and renamed it the Modernize Maryland Commission in July 2024 (Chapter 497, Acts of 2024).

The purpose of the Commission is to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information held by the State concerning Maryland residents. To this end, the Commission advises the Secretary of Information Technology, and the State Chief Information Security Officer on: information technology and cybersecurity investments and upgrades; funding sources for these upgrades; and future mechanisms for the procurement of such upgrades, including ways to increase the efficiency of such procurements.

Commission members are appointed by the Governor. Two members serve ex officio. The Co-Chairs of the Joint Committee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Biotechnology serve as advisory, nonvoting members (Code State Finance & Procurement Article, sec. 3.5-316).
