Service Above Self Award, Cambridge Rotary, 1975. Research Award, Maryland Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, 1983. Joseph R. Bailer Award for Distinguished Career in Education, Western Maryland College, 1985. Member, St. John's Episcopal Church, Ellicott City, Maryland. Married; seven children, one stepchild. Died in Fort Myers, Florida, August 7, 2012. Buried at Trinity Church Cemetery, Church Creek, Maryland.
