In February 2014, the Joint Oversight Committee on the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange was convened by the Senate President and the House Speaker.
The Committee examined the functioning of the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange. Further, the Oversight Committee informed the General Assembly of the status of how enrollments progressed. In April 2014, the Oversight Committee also was charged with determining what went wrong with the launch of the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange in October 2013.
In November 2014, the Committee's purpose ceased with the implementation of a new eligibility and enrollment system at the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange. Moreover, at the request of the Committee, the Office of Legislative Audits conducted an audit of the Exchange, which was completed and delivered to the Joint Audit Committee on October 2, 2015.
No report was submitted, nor required of the Committee.
