Member, Tri-County Council for Western Maryland, 1987-99; Task Force on Educational Assistants and Paraprofessionals in the Public Schools of Maryland, 1996; Task Force on Education Funding Equity, Accountability, and Partnerships, 1997-98. Past chair, Professional Standards and Teacher Education Advisory Board to State Department of Education.

Born in Cumberland, Maryland, September 26, 1924. Attended Fort Hill High School, Cumberland, Maryland; Frostburg State College, B.S.; West Virginia University, M.A. Former mathematics teacher, Allegany High School, Cumberland. Delegate, Democratic Party National Convention, 1984. Member, Allegany County Democratic Central Committee, 8 years; Allegany County Democratic Club. Past president, 4th District Women's Democratic Club. Member, Allegany County Arts Council; Allegany County Retired Teachers Association; Maryland Retired Teachers Association. Member, Business and Professional Women; League of Women Voters; LaVale Century Club; Cumberland Rotary Club; Allegany County Historical Society; Residents' Rights Committee, Thomas B. Finan Hospital Center. Board of Directors, Potomac Council, Boy Scouts of America; Cumberland Theatre; Western Maryland Area Health Education Center. Member, LaVale United Methodist Church, LaVale, Maryland. Widow; two children, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. Died in LaVale, Maryland, May 1, 2018.
