Born in Elkins, West Virginia, October 16, 1950. Attended South Hagerstown High School, Hagerstown, Maryland; Towson State University, B.S. (mathematics & secondary education), 1972; Western Maryland College, M.Ed. (administration), 1982. Math teacher, Interdisciplinary resource teacher, Team Leader, 1972-99, and Instructional Specialist, Secondary Mathematics, 1999-2002, Montgomery County Public Schools, (retired 2002). Former member, Board of Directors, Montgomery County Education Association (member at large, 1978-88; treasurer, 1988-92; vice-president, 1992-98). Board of Directors, Montgomery County Teachers Federal Credit Union, 1983-87; Maryland State Teachers Association, 1989-90, 1991-95, 1996-2000; Hadley Farms Community Association, 1992-93. Delegate, Democratic Party National Convention, 2000. Former secretary, Legislative District 39 Democratic Caucus; former chair, Precinct 1-04, Legislative District 39. Certificate of Appreciation, Maryland Municipal League, 2007, 2008, 2011. Married; two children.
