84) June Court Anno Domini 1747 Wherefore your Petitioner Prays that a Commission may Issue by your Worships Direction Impowering Certain Persons to Examine Evidences touching the bounds of all or any the said Tracts or Parcels of Land in order to Perpetuate the same pursuant to the Act of Assembly in such Cases made and provided and your Petitioner will Pray Whereupon it is ordered that Commission Issue Returnable here &C.a To Wm Penn Robert Yates John Groves and Charles Yates or any three or Two of them to Examine Evidences touching the bounds of the said Tracts or Parcels of Land agreable to the Directions of the Act of Assembly in those Cases late made and provided Anne Towke Prefers to the Court here the following Petition Viz.t To the Worshipfull the Justices of Charles County The Petition of Ann Towke Humbly sheweth That Sarah Ray (a mallatto servant of your Petitioners) was Presented about Twelve years ago for having a base born Child since when your Petitioner hath omitted to have her adjudged for the Trouble of the house your Petitioner therefore begs it may be done Now Also (if it be a Practice of Court) that Mary Ray the Child may be bound to her and your Petitioners shall Pray Upon Reading of which Petition it was Ordered by the Court here that the said Sarah Ray serve her mistress Ann Towke years for the fees and Trouble of the house
Be it Rememberd that on this day to wit the Second Tuesday in June afs.d Ann Coffer into Court here in his proper person Comes according to the Tenor of a Certain Recognizance taken in Court on the Second Tuesday in March last that is to say herself in the sum of Ten pounds Current Money of Maryland together with Richard Coffer her main pernour in the Like Sum for her the said Ann Coffer's appearance to answer of and Concerning her bearing a bastard Child Whereupon Henry Darnall Esq.r his Lordships Attorney General Ore Tenus Informas and Gives the Court to understand that the said Ann was and is Guilty of Bearing a bastard Child and prays the advice of the Court therein Thereupon the said Ann Coffer Present herein Court as afs.d being asked wether she be Guilty of the Premises above on her Imposes saith that she is thereof Guilty In manner and form as against her it is alledged Therefore it is Considered that the said Ann be fined Six Hundred Pounds of Tobacco or Thirty Shillings Current money for her offence afs.d by the Court here adjudged according to the force form and Effect of the Act of Assembly Capr in su^c^h Cases late made and Provided and that the said Ann be taken &C.a Whereupon into Court herein his proper Person Comes Francis Adams Jun of Charles County Planter and becomes pledge and security for the afs.d Ann to pay the fine afs.d as also the several fees arisen due to the offers & ministers of the Court here by occasion of the Premises |
