(45) Charles County Brewer if &C.a and him safe keep so that he should have his body before the Justices of his Lord Proprietary of his Next County Court to be holden at Charles Town on the second Tuesday in March Next to answer unto Mess.rs Stephenson and Steel of a plea that he Render unto them the full and Just Sum of four Thousand Six Hundred and Eighty Eight pounds of Tobacco which to them he owes and unjustly detains and so forth and that he should have then and there this Writt &C.a At which day to wit the Second Tuesday in March aforesaid Comes the afsd Stephenson and Steel by Jeremiah Chase their Attorney and offer themselves against the said Thomas which the sheriff afsd Returns to the Court here that he has taken the body of the said Thomas Henpkier And the aforesaid Thomas Henpkier in his proper person Comes and defends the force & Injury when &C.a and saith that he Cannot Deny the Action afsd of them the said Stephenson and Steel nor but that he owes to them the said Stephenson and Steel nor but that he owes to the said Stephenson and Steel the sum of Two Thousand four HUndred & six Pounds of Tobacco in Two Hogsheads and no more Whereupon ^they^ the said Stephenson and Steel by their attorney afsd pray Judgments and their Debt so acknowledged together with his Costs and Charges by them about their suit in this part laid out and Expended to them to be adjudged Therefore it is Considered that they the said Stephenson and Steel doe Recover against the sd Thomas their Debt afsd to Two Thousand four Hundred and Six pounds of Tobacco above acknowledged and also Two Hundred and Ninety Two pounds of Tobacco for their Costs and Charges by them about in this part laid out and Expended on their assent by the Court here adjudged and the said Def.t in mer Thomas Hanpkier in Mercy &C.a
of Charles County Planter otherwise Called John Chandler of Charles County if &C.a and him safe keep so that he should have his body before the Justices of his Lord Proprietary of his Next County Court to be holden at Charles Town on the Second Tuesday in March Next to Answer unto George Maxwell of a plea that he render unto him the Just and full sum of Fifty six pounds fourteen Shillings Current money which to him he owes and unjustly Detains and so forth and that he should have then and there this writt &Ca At which day to wit the Second Tuesday in March afsd Comes the afsd Geo: by Jeremiah Chase his Attorney & offers (himself) |
