August Court Anno Domini 1747
(147) It was commanded the sheriff that he should take John Penn Jun late of Charles County Planter if &C.a and him safe keep so that you have his body before the Justices of the Lord Proprietary of his Next County Court to be holden at Charles Town on the second Tuesday in August Next to satisfie unto Samuel Luckett as well the sum of Three Pounds five shillings and Seven pence half penny Currency which to the said Samuel in the Court of the said Lord Proprietary before the Justices afs.d were adjudged for his Damages whi^c^h he had by occasion of a Certain Promise and Assumption to the said Samuel by the said John at Charles County afs.d Made and unperformed as also Two Hundred and Eighteen Pounds of Tobacco which to the same Samuel of his assent were adjudged for his Costs and Charges by him about his Suit in this Part laid out and Expended whereof the said John is Convict and that he should have then and there that Writt &Ca And now here at this day to wit the Second Tuesday in August aforesaid the Sheriff aforesaid Returns to the Court here the Writt afs.d thus Indorsed Vizt Cepi Superseeded S Hanson she and with the Writt afs.d he Returns to the Court here the following superseedes Viz.t Charles County ss.t You John Penn John Wilder and John Wilder Jun of this County do Confess Judgment to Samuel Luckett of same County for the Sum of Three p.ds five shillings and seven pence Currency Debt and also Two Hundred and Eighteen Pounds of Tob.o cost of the said Suit together with the additional Costs which first sum was Recovered by the s.d Samuel Luckett against the said John Penn in our County Court together with the said Sum of Tobacco Cost the said Sum of money and Tobacco to be Levied of your Body's Goods and Chattles ^Lands^ and Tenements for the use of the said Samuel Luckett in Case the said John Penn shall not Pay and Satisfie to the said Samuel Lucket the said sums of money and Tobacco above mentioned and Costs aforesaid Recovered against him with the additional Costs thereon on the Tenth day of February Next Witness Two of his Lordships Justices for the County aforesaid this 8.th day of July 1747 Rob Yates To the Clk of Charles County Arthur Lee It was commanded the sheriff that he should take James Mudd late of Charles County Planter if &C.a and him safe keep so that he should have his body before the Justices of the Lord Proprietary of his Next County Court to be holden at Charles Town on the Second Tuesday in August Next to satisfie unto Alexander Smith Hawkins as well the sum of Thirty Thousand Pounds of Good Sound Merchantable Leaf Tobacco in Cask which to the said Alexander Smith Hawkins in the Court of the said Lord Proprietary before the Justices afs.d were adjudged for his Damages which he had by occasion of a Certain Promise and Assumption to the said Alexander Smith by the said James at Charles County (afs.d) |
