time sold and delivered as by an account thereof hereinto Court brought may appear and so thereof Indebted being
the afd Thomas in his life time afterwards (to witt) the same day twenty fifth day of may in the year above
mentioned in Somerset County afd in Consideration thereof upon himself did assume and to the same
John then and there faithfully promise that he the afd Thomas the said twenty four pounds eight shillings
and four pence in Gold Currency of the province afd and five pounds six Shillings in paper Currency
afd to the same John when thereof afterwards he should be requested would well and faithfully pay
and Content and altho' the said Thomas afterwards in his life time ten pounds fourteen Shillings and
ten pence in Gold Currency of the afd Province part of the twenty and four pounds eight shillings
and four pence in Gold Currency afd and also One pound in paper Currency afd part of the above
mentioned five pounds unto the same John he did pay and satisfy  Nevertheless as to thirteen pounds
thirteen Shillings and six pence in Gold Currency of the afd twenty and four pounds eight shillings and
four pence Residue and also as to four pounds and Six shillings paper Currency of the afd five pounds
Residue the afd Thomas in his life time and the afd Sarah after the death of him the said Thomas (to
whom administration of all and Singular the Goods Chattles Rights and Creditts which were of the afd
Thomas at the time of his death at Somerset County afd was Committed) the promise and assumption
afd of him the said Thomas so as afd made little regarding but minding and fraudulently Intending
the same John of the thirteen pounds thirteen Shillings and six pence Gold and four pounds and six
Shillings paper Currency afd Craftilly and Suttlely to deceive and defraud the sums of money last
mentioned or any penny thereof unto the same John have not paid or in any sort Contented although
the same to doe the afd Thomas in his life time ^afterwards^ to witt the first day of June in the year above mentioned
and the afd Sarah after the decease of the afd Thomas (to witt) the first day of Aprill in the year
of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty and often since that time at Somerset County by the same
John was Requested) but the same to pay or in any sort Content have altogether Refused and the afd Sarah
the sums of money last mentioned to the same John to pay or Content still doth Refuse to the damage
of him the said John Forty Pounds Currt money of the said province of maryland and thereof he brings
suit &.a                                                                                       Pledges &.a  J: Doe & R: Roe
