375   af.d and his damages by Occasion of the detaining of the same debt to                                 pounds of Tobacco to the same Moses
of his Assent by the Court here adjudged and the af.d Matthias in mercy &c

GD  Joseph Nicholson
Somerset County ss.t  Joseph Nicholson late of Somerset County planter al dict Joseph Nicholson of
Somerset County in the province of Maryland planter was Summoned to answer unto Moses Chaille of a plea
that he render unto him eighteen pounds five shillings and Six pence Curr.t money of the province af.d which to him
he owes and unjustly detains &c

             And Whereupon the said Moses by Francis Allen his attorney saith that whereas the said Joseph the Eighteenth day of March
Anno Dom Seventeen hundred and thirty nine at the County af.d within the Jur of this Court by his Certain writing obligatory which the said
Moses with the seal of the said Joseph Signed here in Court being the date whereof is the same day and year did acknowledge himself to be bound
unto the af.d Moses in the af.d Eighteen pounds Five shillings and Six pence Current money af.d to be paid unto the said Moses when he should
be thereunto required yett the said Joseph tho' often required the said Eighteen pounds five shillings and Six pence Curr.t money af.d to the
said Moses hath not rendred but the same to him to render hath denyed and still doth deny and unjustly detain to the damage of the said
Moses of fifteen pounds Curr.t money af.d and thereupon he brings Suit &c                           Pledg &.c John Doe R Roe

                   And the af.d Joseph by George Douglas his Attorney Cometh and defendeth the force and Injury when &a and saith that he Cannot
deny the Action af.d of the af.d Moses Chaille nor but that the writing obligatory af.d is the deed of the same Joseph nor but that he oweth the same
Moses the af.d Eighteen pounds five Shillings and six pence Current money in manner and form as the af.d Moses above against him hath
declared      Therefore it is Considered that the af.d Moses Chaille recover against the af.d Joseph Nicholson his debt af.d and his
257   Damages by Occasion of the detaining of the same debt to                                                            pounds of Tobacco to the
same Moses of his Assent by the Court here Adjudged and the af.d Joseph in mercy &c

WA  Samuel Pope
Somerset County ss.t  Samuel Pope late of Somerset County al.s dict Samuel Pope of the County af.d
planter was summoned to answer unto George Douglas of a plea that he render unto him Eighteen hundred pounds
of tobacco and Cask which to him he owes and unjustly detains &c

                   And Whereupon the said George by Francis Allen his Attorney saith that whereas the said Samuel the twenty Eighth day
of June Anno Dom Seventeen hundred and Forty at the County of Somerset af.d within the Jur of this Court by his Certain writing
obligatory which the said George with the Seal of the said Samuel signed here into Court brings the sate whereof is the same
day and year did Acknowledge himself to be bound unto the said George in the af.d Eighteen hundred pounds of tobacco to be paid unto
the said George when he should be thereunto required yett the said Samuel tho' often required the said Eighteen hundred pounds of tobacco
to the said George hath not rendred but the same to him hitherto to render hath denyed and still doth deny ^and unjustly detain^ to the damage of the said George
of one thousand pounds of tobacco and thereupon he brings Suit &c                                       Pledg &.c John Doe R Roe

                And the af.d Samuel by William Arbuckle his Attorney Cometh and defendeth the force and Injury when &.c and saith
that he Cannot deny the Action af.d of the af.d George Douglas nor but that the writing obligatory af.d is the deed of the same
Samuel nor but that he oweth the same George the af.d Eighteen hundred pounds of tobacco in manner and form as the af.d George
above against him hath declared

    Therefore it is Considered that the af.d George Douglas recover against the af.d Samuel Pope his debt af.d and his
                                                                                                                                                          Damages
