hundred and forty one before his said Lordships Justices the peace in the County af.d keep assigned
by the Oath of twelve Jurors presented that Elizabeth Spear late of Stepney parish in the said County of
Somerset spinster the twenty sixth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty
one at the parish af.d in the County af.d and within the Jurisdiction of this Court did Commit fornication with
a Certain person to the Jurors af.d unknown and did permitt the same unknown person then and there to have
Carnal knowledge of her body and then and there a bastard Child on the body of her the same Elizabeth to
beget to the high Displeasure of Allmighty God to the evill Example of all others in such Case offending
Contrary to the peace of the said Lord proprietary that now is his good rule and Government and ag.t the form of
the Act of Assembly in such Case lately made and provided &c

                Thereupon Command was given to the sheriffe of the County of Somerset that he should take the said
Eliz.a Spear if she should be found in his bailywick and her should safe keep so that he might have her body
before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset to be held at Dividing Creek the third Tuesday of
June Anno Dom one thousand seven hundred and forty two to answer unto his said Lordship of the Indictment
af.d &c

                      And now to witt at a Court held for the County af.d the third Tuesday of June being the fifteenth
day of the same month Anno Dom one thousand seven hundred and forty two before his said Lordships Justices
at Dividing Creek Came the af.d Eliz.a Spear in her proper person and had a hearing of the Indictment af.d and
saith she Cannot Deny but that she is guilty of the premisses af.d in the Indictment af.d specified in manner and
form as by the Indictment af.d above against her supposed and the premisses in the Indictment af.d Expressly
acknowledgeth and maketh Oath that a Certain Dominick Jackson is the begetter of the bastard Child
she stands Indicted for and is willing to pay her fine for the fact af.d &c

       Whereupon all and singular the premisses being seen and by the Court here fully understood  It is Considered by
the Court here that the af.d Eliz.a Spear pay unto his said Lordship the right Honrble the Lord proprietary of
Maryland for her fine by the Court hereupon her Imposed for and by Occasion of the premisses af.d whereof in forme
af.d she is Convict thirty shillings Curr.t money of Maryland and that the said Elizabeth Spear be taken to satisfie his
said Lordship of the fine af.d &c

       Whereupon the said Elizabeth Spear is ordered to give Security to serve and keep Indemnified the Justices
of the County of Somerset and their Successors from all troubles burthens and Charges that accrew by means of
the birth maintainance and bringing up of the Child af.d &c

       Thereupon the said Elizabeth Spear with Samuell Carter of Somerset County planter present herein Court
in their proper persons acknowledged themselves Indebted unto his said Lordship the right Honrble the Lord propry of
of the province of Maryland in thirty pounds Curr.t money of their bodys goods or Chattles Lands or tenements severally
to be made and Levied to the use of the Inhabitants of the County of Somerset for the time being  If it happen that the said
