were adjudged for his damages which he had by Occasion of a Certain promise and Assumption by the same John to
the af.d Lawrance made and not performed whereof he is Convict &.c  And the same day is given to the af.d Lawrance here &c

       Att which day here Came the af.d Lawrance Evans by Francis Allen his Attorney and the sheriffe to witt John
Henry Gent now here returned that he had taken the af.d John Collins whose body here at this day he had ready to satisfie
the af.d Lawrance of the damages af.d as to him it was Commanded &.c

           Whereupon the aforesaid sheriffe altho' at the Same day Solemnly Called brings not in the body of the afd
John Collins according to the Return of the writt aforesaid but made default &a

     Command was given to the sheriffe of Somerset County that he should take

George Russell Late of Somerset County Marriner other wise Called George
Russell of Somerset County in the province of maryland if he should be found in his bailywick and
him should safe keep so that he might have his body before the Justices of his Lordships County Court
of Somerset to be held at dividing Creek the third tuesday of August Anno Dom one thousand seven
hundred and forty to Satisfie William Seal as well a Certain debt of Sixty five pounds Currt money
of maryland which to the same William Seal in the same Court ^before^ the Justices thereof at dividing Creek
Recovered against him of two hundred and nine Seven pounds of tobacco which to the same
William Seal in the same Court were adjudged for his damages which he had by Occasion of
the detention of that same debt whereof he is Convict

          Att which day here Came the af.d William Seal by George Douglas his attorney and the
Sheriffe to wit John Handy Gent now here returned that he he taken the af.d George Russell
whose body hereat this day he had ready to Satisife the af.d William Seal of the debt and damages
af.d as to him it was Commanded and the said George Russell being by the said Sheriffe Ledd
to the Barr by vertue of the writt af.d and being by the Court here Asked whether he was not the
same George the same person that the af.d W.m in the ^debt and^ damages af.d above ^us^ Convicted or not saith that
he is      Thereupon the same George Russell is Committed to the prison of the af.d Sheriffe
there to remain in safe Custody untill the af.d William Seal of his ^debt and^ damages af.d should be
Contented and Satisfied &.a


Ordered that Adam Brafford recover Rosanna Williams One hundred ^and twenty^ pounds of tobacco
being due unto him for his attendance four days as an evidence on behalf of the said Rosannah
