Sheriffe of the said County of Somerset of a plea of trespass upon the Case &.a

                            And Whereupon the same John by Robert Jenckins Henry his attorny
Complains that whereas the af.d Charles the twenty fourth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and forty at Somerset County was Indebted unto the same John in the sum of four pounds
and Eight pence Currt money of maryland for sundry articles properly Chargeable in an account as
by an account thereof hereinto Court brought may appear and so thereof Indebted being the said Charles
in Consideration thereof afterwards to witt the same day and year af.d at Somerset County af.d upon himself
did assume and to the same John then and there faithfully promise that he the said Charles the af.d Four
Pounds and Eight pence Currt money unto the same John when thereof afterwards Requested he would
well and faithfully pay and Content    Nevertheless the af.d Charles his promise and assumption af.d
in form af.d made Little Regarding but minding and fraudulently intending the same John in that
part Craftilly and Subtilly to deceive and defraud the af.d Four pounds and eight pence Currt money unto
the same John altho' the same to do the af.d Charles afterwards (to witt) the same day and year af.d and
often since that time at Somerset County af.d by the same John Requested hath not paid but the same to pay
hetherto to pay hath Refused and still doth refuse to the damage of the same John ten pounds Currt money
and thereof he brings suit &.a                                                         Pledges &.a J Doe & R Roe

the sheriffe (to witt) John Handy Gent now here returned that he had taken the af.d Charles Penniwell
whose body hereat this day he had Ready to answer the af.d John Henry of the af.d plea as to
