149 being Called Likewise Came who to say the truth of and upon the premisses being elected tryed and sworn upon their Oath say that the aforesaid Katherine Wildman is not guilty of the premisses aforesaid in the Indictment aforesaid above specefied in manner and form as the aforesaid Katherine above for herselfe by pleading alledged Whereupon all and Singular the premisses being seen and by the Court here fully understood It is Considered by the Court here that the aforesaid Katherine Wileman be quiet and goe thereof without day &.a Whereupon the said Katherine Wileman is Ordered to give Security for the payment of all fee or fees due on the Indictment and premisses afd to any person or persons whatsoever thereupon Came here into Court a Certain John Wileman of Sommerset County Gent and undertook for the said Katherine Wileman and Assumed upon himselfe to pay all fee or fees due to any person or persons whatsoever on the Indictment and premisses aforesaid in Case the said Katherine Wileman doth not pay the same &a
and forty one before Robert King Esq.r and his Associates the same Lord proprietary his Justices of the same County Court and for the said Lord proprietary doth give the Court here to understand and be Informed that Sarah Sommers late of Coventry parish in the said County of Somerset spinster the twentieth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty at Somerset County af.d within the Jurisdiction of this Court did Commit fornication with a Certain person unknown and did permit the same ^person^ unknown then and there to have Carnal knowledge of her body and then and there a bastard Child on her body to beget to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the evill Example of all others in such Case offending against the peace of the Right Honrble the Lord propry his good rule and Government and Contrary to the Act of Assembly in such Case made and provided &c Whereupon the same Attorney of the same Lord propry for prays the advice of the Court in the premisses and that due process against the said Sarah Somers may Issue to Answer &c Thereupon it is Commanded the Sheriff of Somerset County that he Should take the said Sarah Summers if &.a to answer &.a And now to witt at the same Court held for the County af.d at dividing Creek the third Tuesday of August being the Eighteenth day of the same month Anno Dom one thousand seven hundred and forty one above said before the af.d Justices Came the af.d Sarah Sommers in her proper person According to a Certain Recognizance by her and her Securitys in that part first Acknowledged and had a hearing of the Information af.d and saith that she Cannot deny but that she is Guilty of the premisses af.d in the Information af.d Specefyed in manner and form as by the Information af.d above against her supposed and the premisses in the Information af.d Expressly Acknowledgeth and maketh Oath that a Certain John Parkes is the begetter of the Child she stands Indicted for and is willing to pay her fine for the fact af.d &c Whereupon all and Singular the premisses being seen and by the Court here fully understood It is Considered by the Court here that the af.d Sarah Summers pay unto his said Lordship the Right Honrble Charles Absolute Lord and proprietary of the province of Maryland for her fine by the Court hereupon her Imposed for and by Occasion of the premisses af.d whereof in form af.d she |
