140 The Severall writts belonging to the Severall Actions aforesaid were Returned Cepi Corpus p the Sheriffe of Somerset County to June Court 1741 and were Entered agreed the Same Court &c The following actions were Entered agreed on the Tryall docket for June Court Ann Dom 1741
We of the Orphan Jury upon Inquire do find that a Certain Michell Taylor an orphan at August Court Seven hundred thirty and three was by the then Justices of the County Court of Somerset bound as an apprentice to John Follows of the County af.d weaver to Learn his said trade of a weaver and that the said John Follows is sence dead and the said Orphan in no sort taught his said trade either by his said Master in his life time or by any other person since his decease Hutten hill foreman Testes Robert Jones and Underwood Rencher Informers
nine to answer unto William Scott of a plea of trespass upon the Case &.a and the same day is given to the af.d William here &.a Att which day here Came the af.d William Scott by Robert Jenckins Henry his attorney and the Sheriffe to witt John Henry Gent now here Returned that he had taken the af.d Joshua Sturgiss whose body hereat this day he had ready to answer the af.d William Scott of the af.d plea as to him it was Commanded Whereupon the said Joshua Sturgiss puts in his place George Douglas Gent attorney at Law against the af.d William Scott of the af.d plea And thereupon at the request of the parties af.d day is to them now here given untill next Court to be held at dividing Creek in and for the County af.d the third tuesday of August then next Following in the same state as at present saveing to the parties af.d &.a Att which day here Came again the parties af.d b y their attorneys af.d and hereupon the said William Scott Complained against the af.d Joshua Sturgiss in the plea af.d in form following Somerset ss Joshua Sturgiss late of Somerset County Planter was attached to answer unto William Scott of a plea of trespass upon the Case &.a And Whereupon the same William by Robert Jenckins Henry his attorney Complains that whereas the af.d Joshua the thirtieth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred thirty and nine at Somerset County af.d was Indebted to the same William in the sum of twenty and one pounds Currt money of maryland for sundry articles properly Chargeable in |
