105 of this Court did Commit fornication with a Certain person unknown and did permit the said unknown person of her body then & there Carnall knowledge to have and a bastard Child on the body of her the same Eliz.a then and there to beget to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the Evill Example of all others in such Case offending Contrary to the peace of the right Honourable the Lord proprietary that now is his good rule and Government and against the form of the Act of Assembly in such Case lately made and provided &c Whereupon the same Attorney of the same pord proprietary for the same Lord proprietary prays the Advice of the Court herein the premisses and that due process of law in this part against the same Elizabeth may be made to answer unto the same Lord propry of & upon the premisses &c Thereupon Command was given to the Sheriffe of Somerset County that he Should take the said Elizabeth Beavins if &.a to answer &.a and now to witt the Sixteenth day of June Ann Dom One thousand Seven hundred and forty One at a Court held at dividing Creek before his Lordships Justices Came the said Elizabeth Beavins by William Arbuckle her attorney and saith that he Cannot deny but that the same Eliz.a is Guilty of the premisses in the Information aforesaid specified above upon her Imposed in manner and form as by the Information aforesaid above against her supposed and the premisses in the Information aforesaid Expressly acknowledgeth Whereupon all and singular the premisses being seen and fully understood It is Considered by the Court here that the aforesaid Elizabeth Beavins pay unto his Lordship the Right Honourable the Lord Proprietary for her fine by the Court hereupon her Imposed for and by occasion of the premises aforesaid whereof in form aforesaid she is Convict thirty shillings Curr.t money of Maryland and that the said Elizabeth Beavins be Taken to Satisfie his said Lordship of the fine aforesaid Whereupon the said Elizabeth Beavins is Ordered to give Security for the payment of all fee or fees due to any person or persons on the Information afd thereupon a Certain John Beavins of Somerset County planter present herein Court undertook for the said Elizabeth Beavins for the payment of all fee or fees due to any person or persons on the Information afd In case the said Elizabeth Beavins doth not pay the same &c
one before John Scott Esq.r and his Associates the said Lord proprietary his Justices of the same County Court and for the same Lord proprietary doth give the Justices here to understand ^and^ be Informed that George Taylor late of Coventry parish in the County af.d planter the first day ^of^ may in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty at the parish af.d in the County af.d within the Jurisdiction of this Court did Commit fornication with a Certain Elisabeth Beavins and then and there had Carnall knowledge of her body and then and there did begett a bastard Child on the body of her the same Elizabeth to the high Displeasure of Almighty God to the Evill Example of all others in such Case offending Contrary to the peace of the said Lord propry that now is his good rule and Goverment and against the form of the Act of Assembly in such Case lately |
