June Court                   1737                   63

saith that his father Teague Riggen son of Teague Riggen the elder told him that the
first bounder of the tract of Land called the Golden Lyon being a Ceader tree stood within
twenty foot or thereabouts of the place sworn to by the af.d Evidences and that the same
tree which his father told him was the first bounder he hath often stood and fished
off it but that he never lookt on the said tree for notches nor dont Remember that
he ever saw on the said tree but took it from his fathers words and the said deponent
further saith that he was present when James Dickerson was examined upon oath
by William Holland James Nearn and Jn.o Outen by virtue of a Commission from
Somerset County Court who upon his said oath declared that Ambrose Riggen then
posses'd of the Land lying on the north side of the first bounder of the Land Called the
Golden Lyon and Peter Dickerson Possessed on the South side of the said first bounder of the said Land
Imployd him the said James Dickerson to Cutt the ditch upon the Line as near as he Could between
them and that the ditch now in his view was the said ditch that the said James Dickerson swore he was
Imployed about and further this deponant ^saith^ that at the time of Mary Riggin the wife of Teague Riggin
the Elders being Examined by the Commissioners afd she was by the direction of William Holland one of
the said Commissioners afd Lead by the road by Ambross Riggin her son to the place Expressed by John
Riggins deposition near which place one Wilson told her husband in her hearing that he had Cutt down
a tree and markt another Lower down the Creek and further Saith not      Teague Riggen

    Darby Riggin of Somerset County planter aged fifty three years or there abouts being also
sworn on the holy Evangelist of almighty God deposeth and Saith that Peter Dickerson and Ambross
Riggin who were possessors of the Land sworn to as Expresst in Teague Riggens deposition always
allowed the Stooping Ceader tree sworn to by John Riggin and Mary Riggin his wife to be the bounder
that divided the Land Called the Golden Lyon in possession of Ambross Riggin from the Land Called
Riggins mine in the possession of Peter Dickerson and this deponent further saith that he heard his
brother Teague Riggin say that Richard Wilson Cutt down the Beginning tree of his fathers Land Called
the Golden Lyon which stood upon Puttoags Hammock and that he had marked him another tree Lower
down the Creek and further saith not                                                                     his

                            James Neirn of Somerset County planter aged Twenty Eight Years or their abouts
being duly Sworn on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God (by us the said Commissioners) deposeth and saith
that some years ago he this deponant with William Holland and John Owten was appointed (by the
Worshipfull the Justices of Somerset County Court) one of the Commissioners to Examine Wittnesses
in relation to the bounders of a tract of Land Called the Golden Lyon and that upon the Examination of
