Talbot County to wit
 I hereby Certify all persons whom
it doth or may concern that
John Carroll of Talbot County came and proved to my
satisfaction that the bearer hereof negro Easther of
a dark brown complection 5 feet 2 inches high has a
small scar on the thick part of her thumb on
her right hand and has no other visible mark or
scar about twenty four years of age is the
Identical person manumitted by John Kirsey
in the year 1790  To be free on the first day
of May 1807   In Testimony &.c this 13
(seals place) day of June Eighteen hundred & nine

I hereby certify that
Peter Stevens of said county and state
came and proved to my satisfaction
that the bearer hereof a black man
who calls himself Edward Bantom and
who is now about 20 years of age 5 feet 7½
inches high a scar on the third joint of
thumb of his right hand  one other scar
on the back part of his Left hand in a
direction with his little finger a dark
complection is free born and that
the said Edward Bantom was raised
in the county and state afs.d
