State of Maryland
Talbot County to wit
I hereby certify that
M.r Thomas Pearson of said County and state came
        and proved to my satisfaction that the bearer
       hereof a black man who calls himself James
       Walley now about 23 years of age 5 feet 3 Inches
       high has one small scar on his nose also one
       small scar near the right Corner of his mouth
       also several small scars on his hands is the Identical
       person named in a manumission from
       Elizabeth Lloyd to sundry negroes which is
       duly Executed and enrolled among the land
       Records of the the County and State afs.d where
       the said James Wally was raised
                                  In Testimony &c
                                  this 20.th day of July
                                  1815
