proved to my Satisfaction that the bearer hereof a black man named Phil about forty years of age 5 feet 10¼ Inches high very much pitted by the Small pox is the Identical negro manumitted by himself In Testimony whereof &c this 22nd (Seale) day of august 1815 JLoockerman clk Maryland Talbot County to wit I hereby Certify that M.r Samuel Roberts of the County and State afs.d came & proved to my Satisfaction that the bearer hereof (a black man who calls himself Perry Johnson and who is now about 35 years of age 5 feet 5½ inches high has 1 large Scar on the back of his right hand one other Scar on his his right arm about 2 inches above his Wrist & one other Scar partly on the back of his left hand) was manumitted & set free by him the said samuel Roberts & was raised in the County & State afs.d In Testimony &.c this 29.th of (Seal) August 1815 JLoockerman Clk |
