State of Maryland Talbot County To wit
             I hereby certify to all persons whom it doth or may
concern that Samuel Troth of the County and State aforesaid
came and proved to my satisfaction that the bearer hereof
a black woman who calls herself Harriet Smith and
who is of a bright complexion five feet four inches
and three quarters of an inch high aged now about eighteen
years was born free
                         Given &.c the 8.th of May 1809

    State of Maryland Talbot County To wit
                I certify that Tristram Faulkner a respectable
citizen of the County and State aforesaid came
and proved to my satisfaction that the bearer hereof
a black woman who calls herself Judith of a black
complexion five feet and an half inch high
aged now about fifty years is the identical person
manumitted by Patrick McQuay on the 28th day
of March 1791
