                      On the 27th day of June 1885
before me the subscriber a Trustee of the
peace of the said state in & for Harford
County personally appeared Lemuel
Ame & solemnly sincerly & truly declared
& affirmed that negro Lacrtes Preston ^now appears for a pass^ is a
free negro & was born free that he is
about 23 years of age & was born of negro
Evelina Preston who was also born
free said Evelina having been served
her time as an apprentice with deponent
                         affirm.d  Before me
