State of Maryland Queen Anns County to wit
             I hereby Certify that a certain negro man named
Charles now about thirty five years of age five feet seven
& three quarter inches high of light complexion and has
a large scar on his left arm was manumitted and set free
by the last will & testament of a certain Lemuel Purnell
dated 25th day of June 1846 and admitted to probat in my
office on the 18th day of November 1846 his freedom to commence
on the 1st day of January 1847 his person Identified
by the evidence of a certain Doctr Edwin W Henry
                         In Testimony whereof I have hereunto
    (Seal)            set my name & affixed the seal of
                         my office this 17th day of April 1847
                                           Leml Roberts Regr wills
                                           for Queen Anns County


State of Maryland Queen Anns County to wit
I hereby Certify that a certain negro Girl named Maria
now about sixteen years old five feet & a half inch high
of dark complexion & without any scars was manumitted
by the last will & testament of a certain
John C Sparks dated 14th July 1846 and admitted to
probat in my office on the 13th day of august of
the same year  his freedom to commence
at Christmas 1845 her person Identified by the
evidence of a certain Wm Callahan

                      In Testimony whereof I have
(Seal)             hereunto set my name and
                      affixed the seal of my office
                      this 24 day of April 1847
