Maryland Kent County to wit         I hereby certify that
Lemuel Pearce bearer hereof is a free man  he was born
of a free woman and raised in Kent County he is
about twenty three years of age      Witness my hand this
twenty fifth day of April Eighteen hundred and fifty three

Lemuel is five feet eight and one half inches high dark
complexion                                    April 25 1853
Filed and recorded on the 25 day of April 1853 and certificate

To the clerk of the Circuit Court for Kent County   This
is to certify that William Harris Pearce who is now present
and applying for a certificate of freedom was free born
and raised in Kent County and is now about twenty five
years of age
