21 To the Clerk of Kent County Court This is to certify that Ebenezer Posey who is now present and applying for a certificate of Freedom is the identical person mentioned in a Deed of Manumission executed by Mary Posey of the County aforesaid on the third day of June in the year Eighteen hundred and thirty seven and recorded in Liber J. N. G. No 3 page 2 one of the Record books of Kent County Maryland said Ebenezer Posey is now about twenty five years of age Richard Hynson December 27th 1849 Filed and recorded December 27th 1849 and certificate of Freedom issued as follows Maryland Kent County sct I Joseph Redue Clerk of Kent County Court hereby certify to all whom it doth or may concern that it appears by the records of Kent County aforesaid that a certain Mary Posey of said County by her certain Deed of Manumission bearing date on the third day of June in the year Eighteen hundred and thirty seven did manumit liberate set free and discharge from slavery a mulatto man named Ebenezer Posey born on the first day of September in the year Eighteen hundred and twenty four I further certify that a Mulatto man now present (the bearer hereof) called and known by the name of Ebenezer Posey aged about twenty five years five feet two and a half inches high of a yellow complexion and has a light scar over the left eye has proved by testimony which is satisfactory to me that he is the identical person mentioned and described by the name of Ebenezer Posey in the Deed of Manumission above referred to and that he was raised in Kent County In testimony whereof ( seal of ) I hereto subscribe my name and affix the seal of (Kent County ) Kent County Court this twenty seventh day of December (Court Maryland) in the year Eighteen hundred and forty nine Joseph Redue Clerk of Kent County Court state of Maryland Issued and recorded on the 27th day of December 1849 By Joseph Redue Clk |
