Somerset County ss William Turner late of Somerset County planter otherwise
Called William Turner of Somerset County was Sumoned to answer
unto Edm.^d Jennings & q.^r of a plea that he render unto him five

                                        thousand pounds of Tobacco which to him he oweth & unjustly detaineth &.^c
And Whereupon the same Edm.^d Jennings by William Beckingham his attorney saith that
whereas the af.^d W.^m Turner the fourth day of September which was in the year of our
Lord God Seventeen hundred and thirty four at Somerset County afd by his certain writing
obligatory had granted himself to be bound unto the af.^d Edm.^d Jennings in the afd Sum
of five thousand pounds of Tobacco to be paid unto the said Edmond when thereof afterwards
he should be required Nevertheless the af.^d W.^m Turner altho often required the
af.^d five thousand pounds of Tobacco unto the af.^d Edmond hath not paid but that unto
him hitherto to pay altogether hath refused and still doth refuse to the damage of
the same Edmond five thousand pounds of tobacco and thereupon he bringeth Suit &.^c
and doth bring hereinto Court the writing obligatory af.^d which the debt af.^d in form af.^d

And the af.^d William Turner by William Goldsborough his attorney cometh and defendeth
the force and Injury when &.^c and saith that he cannot Gainsay the action af.^d of the af.^d
Edmond nor can he say but that the writing obligatory af.^d is the deed of him the same
William Turner nor but that he oweth the same Edmond the af.^d five thousand pounds
of Tobacco in manner and form as the af.^d Edmond above against him hath declared
whereupon the af.^d Edmond prays Judgment for his debt af.^d and his Costs and damages
Sustained by Occasion of the detaining of that same debt to him to be adjudged &.^c

    Therefore it is Considered by the Court that the af.^d Edmond Jennings Recover against the
af.^d William Turner his debt af.^d and his Costs and damages Sustained by Occasion of the
detaining of that same debt to Two hundred and Ninety Nine
299            pounds of Tobacco to the same Edmond by the Court here of his assent adjudged
and the af.^d William in Mercy &.^c

planter otherwise called Isaah Quatermus of Somerset County was
Sumoned to answer unto Edm.^d Jennings Esq.^r of a plea that he
render unto him Seven hundred pounds of Tobacco which to him he

oweth & unjustly detaineth &.^c

And Whereupon the same Edm.^d Jennings by William Beckingham his attorney saith
that whereas the af.^d Isaiah the twenty second day of February which was in the year
of our Lord God Seventeen hundred and thirty three at Somerset County af.^d by his
certain writing obligatory had granted himself to be bound unto the af.^d Edmond in
the af.^d Sum of Seven hundred pounds of tobacco to be paid unto the same Edmond
