302 Somerset ss Att His Lordships the right Hon.ble Charles absolute Lord and proprietary of the provinces of Maryland and Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c Speciall Court of Oyer and Terminer and Goal delivery held at dividing Creek in the County ad in the Court house for the Same County the twenty first day of December anno Dom One thousand Seven hundred and thirty Six of whom were present
The the above Court held by vertue of the following Commissions vizt the Commission of Oyer and terminer followeth in these words vizt Maryland ss.t Charles absolute Lord and proprietary of the provinces of Maryland & Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c To Levin Gale Esq.r Robert King William Stoughton and George Dashiell Gent Greeting Know Ye that we have assigned you or any three of you our Justices to Enquire by the Oath of good and Lawfull men of our County of Somerset and by other ways and means by which you may or Can better know as well within as without the Liberties thereof by whom the truth of the matter may be better known of all manner of Treasons Misprison of Treasons Inserrections Rebellious Murders Felonies Homicides Manslauters, Burglaries, rapes of women assemblys and unlawfull Conventiales divulgers of false news, aydings Misprisons Confederaises false allegations trespasses Riotts Routs retainings Escapes Contemps Frauds Neglects Concealments maintenances Oppressions Usurys deceipts and other misdos and Offences whatsoever and also of the accessarys thereof within the County afd and Every of them as well within as without of any the Liberties of the said County by whom soever or howsoever had made done and Committed and other Articles and Circumstances of the premisses or any ways Concerning any or all thereof and the same treasons and other the premisses for this time to hear and determine according to the Laws Customs and directions of the acts of assembly of this province so far forth as they provide and where they are Silent according to the Laws Statutes and reasonable Customs of England as used and practised within this province and therefore we Command you or any three of you that at Certain days and places which you or any three of you shall appoint you take Care and diligently Cause Enquiry to be made upon the |
