194 Daniel Coe late of all hallows parish in the County af.d Sadler the thirtieth day of december in the year of our Lord God seventeen hundred thirty and five at the parish af.d in the County af.d within the Jurisdiction of this Court did commit fornication with a certain Eliz.a Bedward and of her body then and there had carnal knowledge and a bastard Child on the body of her the same Eliz.a then and there did beget to the high displeasure of almighty God to the Evil example of all others in such case offending contrary to the peace of the said Lord proprietary that now is his good rule and Government and against the form of the Act of assembly in such case lately made and provided &c Test Eliz.a Bedward On the Backside of the foregoing Bill of Indictment it was thus Endorsed viz.t Billa Vera Edmond Hough Foreman Thereupon Command was given tot eh Sheriff of Somerset County that he should take the said Daniel Coe if &.a to answer &.a afterwards to witt the fifteenth day of June anno Dom One thousand seven hundred and thirty six before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset now here held at dividing Creek in the same County Came the said Daniel Coe in his proper person and had a hearing of the Indictment afd who thereupon saith that he is guilty thereof and is willing to pay his fine for the fact afd whereupon all and Singular the premisses by the Court here seen heard and fully understood It is Considered by the Justices here that the afd Daniel Coe pay unto his Lordship the Lord Proprietary for his fine by the Court here upon him Imposed for and by occasion of the premisses afd whereof in form afd he is Convict thirty shillings Curr.t money of Maryland and that the said Daniel Coe be taken to Satisfie his said Lordship of the fine afd whereupon the said Daniel Coe present herein Court is ordered to give security to save and keep Endempnified ^the^ Justices of Somerset County Court and their Successors for the time being from all Costs Charges troubles ^&^ burthens that might accrew by meanes of the birth maintainance and bringing up of a bastard Child Lately begott of the body of the afd Eliz.a Bedward &a Whereupon the said Daniel Coe with William Fasitt and John Petey both of Somerset County planters his securitys all present herein Court in their proper persons acknowledged themselves Indebted unto his said Lordship the Lord Proprietary in the sum of thirty pounds ster good and Lawfull money of England of their severall bodys goods and Chattells Lands and tenements to be made and Levied to the use of the Justices of Somerset County Court and their Successors If it happen that the said Daniel Coe his heirs Ex.rs and adm.rs do and shall not from time to time and at all times forever hereafter acquitt discharge and save harmless as well the Justices of Somerset County Court for the time being and their Successors as also the Inhabitants of the Same Coty from all Costs Charges and troubles whatsoever for or by reason of the birth maintainance Nourishing and bringing up of the said Child and of and from all other suits Costs Charges burthens troubles and demands whatsoever touching or Concerning of the Same &a Likewise the said Daniell Coe is ordered to give sery for the payment of the Severall Officers their fees due on the premisses afd Whereupon the said Wm Fasit present here in Court undertakes for the said Daniel Coe to pay all the fees due as afd &a |
