1736 190 of Somerset County that he Should take the said Sarah Gloster if &.a to answer &.a and afterwards to witt the fifteenth day of June anno Dom One thousand seven hundred and thirty Six before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset now here held at dividing Creek in and for the same County Came the said Sarah Gloster in her proper person and had a hearing of the Indictment afd and being Instantly demanded how she would acquitt herselfe of the premises afd as by the Indictment afd is above upon her Imposed saith that of the premsises afd as by the Indictment afd above upon her Imposed she is guilty thereof but refuseth to declare the father & Begetter of the said Child she Stands Indicted for &a Whereupon all and Singular the premisses by the Court here seen heard and fully understood It is Considered by the Justices here that the said Sarah Gloster be had to the publick whiping post and there give her twenty five Stripes on the Bare Back well Laid on untill the Blood appear and thereupon as to the Corporall punishment afd Command is given to the Sheriff of Somerset County that he take the said Sarah Gloster to the publick whiping post and there give her Twenty five Stripes on the Bare Back well laid on untill the Blood appear &a and that she be taken &a and afterwards in the same Court Came the said sheriff and made return that he had done the Execution of the Judgm.t afd as to the Corporall punishmt afd he was Commanded and afterwards the said Sarah Gloster present herein Court is ordered to give Security to save and keep Endempnified the Justices of Somerset County Court and their Successors from the time being from all Costs Charges troubles and burthens that might accrew by means of the Birth &a of the afd Child &a Whereupon the afd Sarah Gloster with Christopher Nutter her security both present herein Court in their proper persons acknowledged themselves Indebted unto his Lordship the Right honrble the Lord Proprietary In the Sum of Twenty pounds Sterling of their Severall Goods and Chattells Lands and tenements to the Use of Somerset County to be made and Levied if it Happen that the said Sarah Gloster her heir Executors and adm.rs or any of them do and shall ^not^ from time to time and at all times forever hereafter acquitt discharge and save harmless as well the Justices of Somerset County Court for the time being and their Successors as also the Inhabitants of the Same County from all Costs Charges and troubles whatsoever for or by reason of the birth maintainance nourishing and bringing up of the said Child and of and from all other suits Costs Charges burthens troubles and demands whatsoever touching or Concerning of the same &a Likewise it is further ordered that the Said Sarah Gloster give security for the payment of the Severall Officers Fees due by means of the premisses upon the Indictment afd thereupon the afd Christopher Nutter present herein Court as afd undertakes for the said Sarah Gloster and acknowledged himselfe Indebted unto his said Lordship in five pounds sterll to be Levied &a In Case he doth pay unto the Severall Officers of Somerset County Court their Fees due upon the Indictment afd by means of the premisses afd &a |
