Somerset ss
                         Att a Court of the Right honrble Charles absolute Lord and Proprietary of the
Provinces of Maryland and avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &a held at dividing Creek in Somerset
County the third Tuesday of June to witt the fifteenth day of the Same Month and in the twenty
second Year of his said Lordships dominion &a ann.o Dom One thousand seven hundred and thirty
six by his said Lordships Justices the peace in the same County to keep assigned of whom were present

who being severally Called Over did appear and were sworn and Charged and sent out to Consider &a
soon after the Orphan Jurors afd being Impannelled sworn and Charged as afd Return hereinto Court
and being severally called Over againe and being asked if they had agreed on any presentments answered
no thereupon they were discharged &.a

    To the Worshipfull the Justices of the peace for the County of Somersett in Court
sitting the humble petition of John Laws of dame Quarter sheweth that the
your petition.r hath a negro man named deneah who is very antient and hath been in
this County upwards of thirty years and when imported seemed of a midle age and for
these severall years hath been aflicted with pains in his limbs that he hath been of
little or no service to your petition.r and for this last year hath been intirely useless
and a burden to your petitioner  Wherefore your petition.r humbly prays that the said
negro man named duneah may be set tax free for the future according to the directions
of the act of assembly of this province in such case made and provided and your petition.r
is in duty bound will pray
