Marriner was Attached to Answer unto George Martin
of a plea of Trespass upon the Case &c
       And whereupon the said George by Francis Allen his Attorney Complains
       that Whereas the said William the Twentyth day of Jan.ry Anno Dom seventeen
       hundred and thirty one at Somerset County afs.d within the Jurr of this Cor.t
       was Indebted unto the said George in the sum of twelve pounds three shills
       and seven pence Currt mony of Maryland it being as well for Sundry goods
       wares and Merchandizes by the said George to the said William at the
       Special Instance and Request of the said William before that time there
       sold and Delivered as for sundry other things properly Chargable in Account
       as by Acct hereunto Annexed may in Court appear and being so thereof
       Indebted the said William in Consideration thereof the Day and Year afs.d
       at the County afs.d within the Jurr afs.d upon himself did assume and to the
       said George then and there did faithfully promise that he the said William
       the aforesaid twelve pounds three Shill.s and seven pence to the said George
       when he should be thereunto Requested he would well and faithfully pay
       and Content and altho the said William three pounds Eight shillings and
       six pence half penny parcell of the aforesaid twelve pounds three shillings
       and seven pence to the said George he hath paid and satisfyed yett as to
       Eight pound fifteen shillings and one half penny Residue of the afores.d
       Twelve pounds three shillings and seven pence the said William his
       promise and assumption afores.d in form afs.d made Nothing regarding
       but plotting and fraudulently Intending y.e said George in that part Craftilly
       and Subtilly to Deceive and Defraud the aforesaid Eight pound fifteen shill.s
       and one half penny to the said George altho the same to Do the said William
       by the said George on the aforesaid Twentieth Day of January in the Year
       afores.d and often afterwards at Somerset County afs.d within the Jurr afs.d
       he was thereunto Requested hath not paid or Contented but the same to him
       hitherto pay or Content hath Refused and still doth Refuse and Deny whereupon
       the said George saith he is worse and hath Damage to the Value of Eighteen
       pounds Curr.t mony of Maryland afores.d  And thereupon he brings suit &c
