Somerset County ss.t  James Duffey late of Somerset County Taylor
otherwise called James Duffey of Dorchester County Taylor was
Summoned to answer unto John Woolford of a plea that he
render unto him the sum of Fourteen pounds Currant Silver Money of
maryland which unto him he oweth and unjustly detaineth &a

And Whereupon the same John by William Beckingham his attorney
saith that whereas the af.d James the Eleventh day of January which was
in the year of our Lord God Seventeen hundred and thirty at Somerset County
af.d by his certain writing obligatory had granted himself to be bound unto
the af.d John in the af.d Sum of Fourteen pounds Current Silver money of
maryland to be paid unto the s.d John when thereof afterwards he should
be required  Nevertheless the af.d James altho often required the af.d sum of
Current silver money of maryland unto the af.d John hath not paid but
that unto him hitherto to pay altogether hath refused and Still doth refuse
to the damage of the same John Twenty pounds like money and one thousand
pounds of Tobacco and thereupon he bringeth suit &.a and doth bring hereinto
Court the writing obligatory af.d which the Debt af.d in form af.d doth
testify the date whereof is the same day and Year af.d &a
                                                                 pledges &.a  John Doe & Rich.d Roe

       And the afd James Duffey by William Goldsborough his attorney Comes and defends the force
and Injury when &.a and saith that he Cannot Gainsay the action afd of the afd John Woollford
nor can he say but that the writing Obligatory afd is the deed of the Same James Duffey nor but
that he Owes the Same John Woollford the afd fourteen pounds Currant silver money of
maryland in manner and form as the afd John above against him hath declared &a

             Therefore it is Considered that the afd John Woollford recover against the afores.d
James Duffey his debt aforesaid and his damages by Occasion of the detaining of the same
280    debt to Two hundred and Eighty                              pounds of tobacco to the same
John of his assent by the Court here adjudged and the afd James Mercy &a
