Subtilly to deceive and defraud the s.d three pounds one shilling and nine pence to the s.d Thomas
although the same to doe the s.d Alexander by the af.d Thomas on the afores.d second day of September
in the year afores.d and often afterwards at somerset County afores.d within the Jurisdiction af.d
he was thereunto requested hath not paid or Contented but the same to him hitherto to pay or
Content hath refused & still doth refuse and deny to the damage of the same Thomas of Six pounds
three shillings and six pence money afores.d and thereupon he brings suit &.a   pledges &.a  Jno Doe & R Roe

Dec.r ye 21.st 1732    Then Came before me the
Subscriber one of his Ld p.s Justices in & for
the County of somerset Thomas Gray & made
Oath on the holy Evangelists of Almighty
God that the above Aco.tt against Alexd.r Chaine
is Just & true as it stands stated & that he nor
any person by his orders hath ever received
any Satisfaction or security for the above
debt to the best of his knowledge
Sworn before me        Jam.s Martin

                 Whereupon the said Alexander Chain came hereinto Court in his proper person and thereupon the
said Alexander Chain is adjudged to give Speciall Bail to the action afd   Whereupon a Certain James
Furnis of Somerset County planter present herein Court in his proper person undertook and assumed
upon himselfe for the said Alexander Chain (Likewise the said Alex.d Chain present herein Court
as afd assumed upon himselfe) that if in case the said Thomas Gray should recover Judgment
against ^him^ the said Alexander Chain in the plea afd or that he the said Alexander Chain should be therein
convict that then he the said Alexander Chain shall pay the Condemnation of the Court thereupon
or render his body to the Custody of the Sherriff of Somerset County in Satisfaction thereof or that he the
said James Furnis will do the Same for him &a

    And the said Alexander Chain by George Douglas his attorney Comes and defends the force and Injury
when &a and prays Leave thereof to Imparle hereuntill next Court and he hath it and the same day
is Given to the afd Thomas Gray herealso &a

       Att which said next Court to witt Eighteenth day of June ann.o Dom One thousand Seven hundred
and thirty four Came againe as well the afd Thomas Gray as the afd Alexander Chain by their attorneys
af and thereupon the said James Furnis bail of the afd Alex.d delivers up unto the sherriff of
Somerset County the afd Alexander Chain in discharge of the ^recognizance of^ Bail afd the ^said^ sherriff to witt Joshua
Caldwell Gent present herein Court took Charge of the said Alex.d accordingly af.d

       Afterwards a Certain Edward Cullen of somerset County planter present herein Court in his proper
^person^ undertook and assumed upon himselfe for the said Alexander Chain (Likewise the said Alex.d
Chain present herein Court as afd assumed upon himselfe) that if in Case the said Thomas
Gray should recover Judgment against him the said Alexander Chain in the plea afd or that
he the said Alexander Chain should be therein Convict that then he the said Alexander Chain
