192 paid for Expences and Charge in takeing him up when run away as afd &a Whereupon it is Considered by the Court here that the said Thomas Hopcraft serve his said Master Arthur Warwick for the Eight days runaway time Sixteen days and Likewise the said Thomas Hopcraft is adjudged to Serve the Said Arthur Warwick for the afd Twenty shillings and twenty pounds of tobacco paid as afd forty five days which service in the whole amounts to sixty one days Which said Sixty One days Service afd adjudged by the Court is Considered to be full Satisfaction for the runaway time and money and tobacco paid as afd and to Commence on the twenty second day of August Instant &a
the third tuesday of August then next to answer unto Thomas Nevett of a plea of trespass upon the Case &a and that thereof he should not fail &a And the said Thomas Nevett by William Beckingham his attorney complaines against the said William Gray in the plea afd as followeth viz.t Somerset County ss.t William Gray late of nanticoke in somerset County planter was attached to answer unto Thomas Nevett of a plea of trespass upon the Case &a And whereupon the same Thomas by William Beckingham his Attorney Complains that whereas the af.d William Gray after the first day of may which was in the year of Our Lord Seventeen hundred and five to wit on the thirteenth day of November in the Year of Our Lord Seventeen hundred and thirty three at nanticoke in Somerset County af.d made his certain note in Writing called a Promissary Note with his proper hand subscribed bearing date the same day and year last mentioned by which same note the same William Gray did promise to pay to the af.d Thomas or his Order one thousand pounds of Tobacco being for like Value ^of him^ Rec.d by reason whereof as also by vertue of the Statute in such Cases lately made and provided the same William Gray became and was chargeable to pay unto the af.d Thomas the af.d one thousand pounds of tobacco when thereof afterwards he should be required and so therewith being chargeable the same William Gray in Consideration thereof afterwards to witt the same thirteenth day of November in the year afd at the County ^afd^ upon himself did assume and to the same Thomas then and there did faithfully promise that he the same William Gray the same one thousand pounds of Tobacco to the same Thomas when thereof afterwards he should be required well and faithfully would pay and Content Nevertheless (the |
