171 Charge of the said John Evans accordingly Afterwards It is ordered the sherriff of Somerset County that Immediately and without delay he sell the afd John Evans to the biggest bider for not Exceeding Seven Years towards Satisfaction of the afd John Jackaman of the four fold of the goods afd Stolen and the Severall Officers Fees due by Occasion of the premisses afd Thereupon the said Sherriffe to witt Joshua Caldwell Gent upon publick notice given sels the same John Evans unto Majr George Dashiell who was the biggest bidder for Seven Years to Commence from the date of these presents In Consideration of two thousand pounds of tobacco to be paid towards satisfaction of the four fold and fees afd &a
the same Court here to understand and be Informed that Moses Chaille Jun.r late of Somerset County marriner the twenty first day of February in the Year of Our Lord One thousand Seven hundred & thirty One in the County afd and within the Jurisdiction of this court did Committ adultery with a Certain Ann More of the County afd Spinster and on the body of the said Ann More then and there did begett a bastard Child against the peace of the right honrble the Lord proprietary of this province his good rule and government and also against the form of the act of assembly in such Case made and provided wherefore the said Robert Jenckins Henry prays advisement of the Court in the premisses and that due process of Law against the said Moses Chaille Jun.r may Issue Thereupon Command was given to the sherriffe of Somerset County that he should take the said Moses Chaille Jun.r if &a to answer &a and afterwards to witt the twenty first day of august One thousand seven hundred and thirty three before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset now here held at dividing Creek Came the afd Moses Chaille Jun.r by Francis Allen his attorney & and had a hearing of the Information afd and Says that he is not thereof Guilty and of this he putts himselfe upon the Country and Robert Jenckins Henry Gent attorney of the Lord proprietary and who for the said Lord proprietary in that part Followeth Likewise &a Thereupon it is Commanded the sheriff of Somerset County that Immediately he should cause to Come here before the Justices of his said Lordships County Court of Somerset now here held at dividing Creek in the County afd twelve &a by whom &a and who neither &a to recognize &a because as well &a and afterwards Immediately Came thereof the Jury &a and the Jurors of that same Jury by Joshua Caldwell Gent sherriff of the County afd to this Impannelled being Called Came (to witt) |
