156 Satisfie unto the said Severall Officers their Fees due from the said Sam Atkinson upon the Indictment afd &a Likewise it is Ordered by the Court here that the afd Samuel Atkinson is ordered by the Court here to give Security for to save and keep harmless as well the Justices of Somerset County Court and their Successors for the time being as also the Inhabitants of the Same County from all Costs Charges and troubles by reason of the birth maintainance nourishing and bringing up of the said Child Lately begott on the body of the afd Elizabeth Fittne &a Whereupon the said Samuel Atkinson with Isaac Atkinson of Somerset County Cooper his Security both present herein Court in their proper persons acknowledged themselves Indebted unto his Lordship the Lord proprietary in the Sum of twenty pounds Sterling Each of their good and Chattells Lands and tenements seperately to be made and Levied to the Use of Somerset County If it happen that the aforesaid Samuel Atkinson do not from time to time and at all times hereafter acquitt discharge and save harmless as well the Justices of Somerset County Court and their Successors for the time being as also the Inhabitants of the Same County of and from all Costs Charges and troubles and burthens whatsoever for an by reason of the birth maintainance nourishing and bringing up of the said Child and from all suits troubles Charges and demands whatsoever touching or Concerning of the Same &a
worships shall think a Sufficient recompence for such her five months service beyound the time your female Petitioner was Oblidged to serve him Thereupon Command was given to the sherriffe of Somerset County that he should Immediately Sumons the afd Thomas Fletcher that he be and appear before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somrset now held at dividing Creek to answer the petition of the afd Laurence Eddes and Ann his wife &a afterwards to witt the Eighteenth day of June anno Dom One thousand seven hundred and thirty four before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset now here held at dividing Creek in and for the County and Came the said sher to witt Joshua Caldwell Gent and made return that he had sumoned the afd Thomas Fletcher as afd he was Command and thereupon Came here into Court as well the fd Petitioner as the afd Thomas Fletcher in their proper persons and the petition afd being read and heard and the severall allegations as well on the part of the petitioner afd as on the part of the afd Tho.s Fletcher and mature deliberation thereupon had It appears to the Justices here upon their Inspection into the afd Anns Indenture and the records of Somerset County Court that the afd Ann Eddes wife of the afd Laurence Eddes was detained in servitude by the afd Thos Fletcher and his assignes as a servant five full months Longer and above the time that she was to Serve by her Indenture |
