121 against the afd Bartholomew Baynom his debt afd and his damages by Occasion of the detaining of 241 the same debt to pounds of tobacco to the same John of his assent by the Court here adjudged and the afd defend.t in mercy &a Proclamation being made in Usual form His Lordships Commission of the peace for the County of Somerset being here produced this third day of aprill One thousand Seven hundred & thirty four was openly read as followeth vizt Maryland ss.t Charles absolute Lord and Proprietary of the Provinces of Maryland and Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &a To John Hall Rich.d Tilghman Mat: Tilghman Ward John Rousby Benjamin Tasker Philip Lee John Rider Michael Howard Geo: Plater & Edmond Jenings Esq.r and To Rob.t King John Smith Balt hund: William Stoughton John Handy James Dashiell John Scott James Martin William Lane Thomas Williams Henry Ballard David Willson Edw.d Rownd Cha: Rackliff Geo: Dashiell Thomas Gillis Isaac Handy and Mitchell Dashiell of Somerset County Gent Greeting Know ye that we have assigned you and Every of you Joyntly and Severally our Justices to keep our Peace within Our County of Somerset and to Do Equal Law and Right to all the Kings Subjects Rich and poor According to the Laws Customs and Directions of the Acts of Assembly of this Province so far forth as they provide and where they are silent According to the Laws Satutes and Reasonable Customs of England as used and practised within this Province for the Conservation of the peace and Quiet Rule and Government of the Kings Subjects within our said County and to Chastise and Punish all or any person or persons offending against the said Acts Laws Statutes and Customs or any of them According to the Directions thereof and to Call before you or any of you all those who in Our County aforesaid shall Threaten to do any bodily harm to any of the Kings Subjects or to burn their Houses or Otherwise break Our Peace and Misbehave themselves to find Sufficient Security of the Peace and Good behaviour to us and the ^said^ Subjects and if they shall refuse to find such security that then you Cause them to be Committed into safe Custody untill they shall be Delivered by Due Course of Law from thence also we have assigned you and Every three or more of You of whom we will you the said John Hall Richard Tilghman Mat.w Tilghman Ward John Rousby Benj.a Tasker Philip Lee John Rider Mich.l Howard Geo: Plater and Edmond Jenings Esqr and Robert King John Smith William Stoughton John Handy or one of you always to be one Our Justices to Enquire by the Oaths of Good and Lawfull Men of Our County aforesaid by whom the Truth of the Premisses may be the better Known of all and all manner of Felonies Witch Crafts Enchantments Sorceries Arts Magick Trespasses Engrossings Regrateings Forestallings and Extortions whatsoever (and) |
